A History of Cohen
Here's a rough timeline of the more significant events of my life.
- July 30, 1977 - Birth. It's hard to accomplish much in life without having this happen first, though I'm sure someone determined enough might find a way.
- 1985-86 school year, on a Friday. Third grade. During my first year at GEM (Gifted Education Midland), I run into the girl who will one day become my wife - though neither of us can remember the occasion. There will be other times over the years that we see each other, and even date, eventually, but this was the first meeting.
- 1989-1990 school year. Seventh Grade. After being locked in a Tuba case in the Band Hall, I change my single elective class from Spanish to Band, thus beginning a 6 year adventure in music. For my instrument of choice, I select the French Horn, based upon the fact that 1) the director said that it takes really intelligent people to play the Horn; and, 2) the school would provide it, at no cost to me (yay!).
- May, 1995. Senior year of High School (Twelfth Grade). I graduate from Robert E. Lee Senior High School, with plans to attend the University of Texas in Austin to major in Chemistry (oh, the ignorance!).
- February 3, 1998 - I enlist in the United States Navy as a potential Electronics Technician (Nuclear).
- April 16, 1998 - I finish Basic Training and begin my education as a nuclear operator, having opted for submarine duty.
- August, 2000 - I finish my first patrol on the USS Kentucky (SSBN 737, Blue).
- March 22, 2002 - I am discharged from active duty! Yay, back to real life.
- February 14, 2004 - I marry Patricia Bernice Kernaghan in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Midland, Texas. We honeymoon near Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
- August, 2004 - I return to The University of Texas, at Austin to begin earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. Ooo.
- Present!
